All dishes on our menus include a Foodsteps carbon impact rating. This is designed to help our customers make climate-conscious decisions and to ensure accurate measurement and alignment with our sustainability goals.

Carbon intensity is a measurement of the carbon footprint per kilogram of food (kg CO2e / kg of food). This measurement allows for a fair comparison between products of different serving sizes.

Environmental game changers

ExceL London Hospitality is committed to achieving Climate Net Zero. We are making multiple changes to how we operate across the whole business, including reducing our food waste, banning single-use plastics and switching to plant-forward alternatives.

  • Through culinary innovation and ingredient re-purposing we will reduce our food waste to under 1% by the end of 2024.

  • We have made a commitment to put in an air freight ban in place on all fruit and vegetables that come outside of the UK from 2022. If it comes on a plane, we won’t use it.

  • We will source all red meat (beef, pork and lamb) from the UK by the end of 2022.

  • Through our reduce, re-use and review policy, we are targeting removal of all single use plastics.

  • We will be helping our customers and consumers to make more sustainable choices using Foodsteps, our Carbon Labelling tool.

  • 25% of our menus are plant-based, vegan or vegetarian right now.

Health & wellbeing

Ensuring the health and wellbeing of everyone who steps through our doors is a vital part of the day-to-day running of ExceL London Hospitality. From our staff to our customers, we work to ensure that all those who visit our venue are well fed and feel safe.

  • We go above and beyond to show you the allergens in our food at the point of your order and at service for your delegates and visitors.

  • Rather than being driven purely by statistics and compliance, our See Care Share programme shifts our outlook from reactive to proactive. Safety is our caring culture, not a tick box exercise.

  • We help our teams live a healthy lifestyle with sensible hours of work and better team feeding.

  • Our menus are developed to sensibly fuel you and your delegates and visitors as well as wow them with a delicious eating experience.

  • Our Wellbeing Ambassadors help promote our Levy Cares Charter across our team at ExCeL

Better for the world

For us, socially responsible policies extend beyond just ingredients and supply chains. It’s important that we give back to our local communities, support women in our industry and create amazing opportunities for our dedicated team members.

  • We collaborate with our partners to enrich local communities through charity and employment.

  • We will increase female chefs in our business by 10% year on year and support Women in Food initiatives.

  • Free range eggs are standard across our business.

  • We bring our teams fantastic development opportunities and our goal is to have 30 apprentices in our business by the end of 2022.

A sustainable supply chain

The social responsibility and impact of social enterprises are really important to us and reflect our own values, which is why we work with so many in our supply chain. They undergo the same in-depth approval and audit process applied to every supplier; giving us and our customers comprehensive reassurance that quality standards will match the social standards of the product.

The organisations we work with are putting people and planet first, with our food suppliers in particular championing local, seasonal produce. Our partners and suppliers work with us to continually reduce emissions and food waste across our supply chain. With their help we can forge a clear path for the creation of eco-friendly offerings across this entire sector.
